Syracuse.  Duck Race to End Racism.  Thousands of floating rubber ducks will race in heats down parts of Onondaga Creek.  Prizes will be awarded to those that sponsor the winning duck in each race.  There will also be entertainment, information booths for community groups and activities for children and families, all geared towards creating a festival-like atmosphere.  $5 to sponsor a duck.  Noon – 4 p.m.  Syracuse Inner Harbor.  www.interfaithworkscny.org/duckrace.

Syracuse.  56th Annual Polish Festival.  Featuring a wide variety of Polish musicians, dancers and entertainers.  The festival will also feature exhibits, children’s entertainment, children’s amusement rides, Polish arts and fine crafts, Polish books, Polish food and beverages.  Hosted by the Polish Scholarship Fund.  Clinton Square.  4 – 11 p.m. Friday, 12 – 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  www.polishscholarship.com

Oswego.  Flag Day Commemoration.  History of the American Flag and flags over Fort Ontario.  Co-sponsored by the Oswego Elks, Continental Arms Collectors Unit and New York State Parks.  Fort Ontario.  Free Admission.  11 a.m.

Rochester.  Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival 9th Edition.  One of the nation’s largest and fastest growing music festivals, drawing fans from across the United States and around the world.  The nine-day event will feature hundreds of musicians at different venues throughout Rochester.  Pre-sale tickets are available and vary for events.  (585)454-2060.  www.rochesterjazz.com.

Jamesville.  31st Annual Jamesville Balloon Festival.  This event offers a great opportunity to get up close to hot air balloons, discover their history, meet the pilots and maybe even take a ride.  There will also be live music and entertainment.  Free parking and motorcycle parking.  Balloon rides are $150 per person for evening flights and $125 per person for morning flights, call (315) 727-9000 to reserve a ride.  Jamesville Beach Park.  $5 admission, free admission for children under 10.  4-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday.  www.syracuseballoonfest.com.  (315) 435-5252.

Oswego.  11th Annual Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta and Walk/Run for Hope.  This event is the major fundraiser for the Friends of Oswego County Hospice.  Includes a 5k run/walk, sailing regatta and reception.  Oswego Yacht Club.  (315) 343-5223.

Orleans County.  Orleans Pro-Am Tournament.  The Lake Ontario Pro-Am Tournament takes place in four parts throughout the summer in Western and Central New York. All four tournaments are conservation minded events designed to showcase the fantastic Lake Ontario trout and salmon fisheries. Oswego.  Good Old Summertime Victorian Picnic.  Hosted by the Oswego County Historical Society, this event is open to the public and will feature Victorian games, music, ice cream and refreshments.  Lunch baskets of various themes prepared by local restaurants and businesses will be auctioned off.  All proceed will benefit the historical society’s museum and programs.  On the lawn of the Richardson-Bates House Museum.  1 – 4 p.m.  (315) 343-1342.
