Syracuse.  CNY Pride Parade and Festival.  The annual CNY Pride Parade and Festival is a celebration and affirmation of Central New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.  The celebration begins with the raising of the rainbow flag over Syracuse City Hall at 11:30 a.m., followed by a parade through the streets of downtown Syracuse. The highlight of the day is a festival in the Everson Museum Plaza, filled with fun, food and beverages, community groups and vendors.  All are welcome; a special area is designed for families with children.  Everson Museum.  (315) 378-8744.  www.cnypride.org.

Syracuse.  Juneteenth Festival.  The premiere African-American celebration for Syracuse and Central New York.  It is a positive platform for encouraging acceptance and diversity.  With over 28,000 attendees in 2009, it is the largest celebration of its kind in Central New York.  Jubilee Park and Clinton Square.  Free admission.  www.syracusejuneteenth.org.
